Major developments that have
received little or no attention during the coronavirus and up
for discussion during the show today:
--Russia will deploy a modern new Borei-class
SSBN in April, the first of a new fleet, while the first new
U.S. SSBN does not deploy until 2035.
--Russia will soon start deploying new SATAN II
Super-ICBMs while no new U.S. ICBM until late 2030s.
--80% of Russia’s nuclear forces are new,
advanced technology weaponry, while U.S. nuclear weapons are
decades old, with no new warhead (the W-91) for 15 years (2035).
--We have forgotten, and have had to reinvent,
basic nuclear weapon materials and components like capacitors
and “fogbank”.
--North Macedonia recently became the 30th NATO
member, which means the U.S. is now on the hook to provide for
their security against all aggressors, including by, if
necessary, nuclear war.
